Meters are measuring instruments which are used to compare physical quantities of either objects or other materials. An electric meter or energy meter is a device that measures the amount of electrical energy supplied to or produced by a residence, business or machine. The most common type of meters are a kilowatt hour meter or a joule meter. Gauges are employed to measure various entities such as pressure, liquid heights in storage tanks, temperature, wires, screws, ring etc.
